Day Camp Week 2 - Thursday
It is Thursday already and another week is flying by! This week the theme was space and the campers have begun making a paper-mache solar system! So far the planets are formed but not painted, hopefully we will paint them today or tomorrow and have a chance to hang the finished solar system in the lodge before everyone leaves on Friday!
Yesterday we had a visitor in camp, he was hairy, black and walked on all fours...YES...we had a bear in camp! The campers were only able to see him in a photograph taken by counselor Nick but some of the staff were able to see him in person! We have since had some live traps set around camp to relocate our bear friend and help him find a new permanent home. Until he is relocated we are unable to go on nature hikes or play up at the sports field. Hopefully he will find a new home soon!
As I sit here in the office typing I am looking outside and I see something I haven't seen in days, SUNSHINE! It is supposed to be in the 80s today so I have written SWIM in GIANT letters on the schedule for this afternoon! Some of our braver campers did swim yesterday but for the most part out waterfront activities have been fishing and boating for this week. Here is hoping we get some sunny, warm weather for next week!
That's all for now,
~ Alexandra
